Where did you get the name Redemption BBQ?
We are 100% committed to local meats humanely and sustainably raised on pasture by regenerative farmers. Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms here in Virginia is a global leader in regenerative agriculture. Polyface’s website used to feature a quote that captured my imagination: ”We are in the redemption business: healing the land, healing the food, healing the economy, and healing the culture.” Salatin’s approach to regenerative farming has literally rebuilt layers of topsoil and restored the fertility of their land. I wanted to be in the redemption business, too, but farming wasn’t really an option for me. However, I realized that I could participate in the redemption of local food systems through my passion for barbecue. Thus was born Redemption BBQ, a name that also reflects by background as a pastor and seminary professor.
